Role as an epidemiologist

Welcome, welcome! My name is Tenzin Ngawang and this is my blog as an epidemiologist. Through out my years in high school, I have always been interested in medicine, the medical prospect of life. Thanks to our school, Science Leadership Academy's internship programs, I have been able to explore different career fields, such as entrepreneurship, veterinary field, etc. I was able to discover that I really do enjoy researching and learning new things. I also loved the fact that I am able to make differences in life by helping the ones in need. That's why I chose to become an epidemiologist for my capstone project. So you would ask, what is an epidemiologist? An epidemiologist studies and investigates different diseases/disorders, either what causes a disease, what parts of the body are being affected, the effects, or by studying the pattern of people who had previously had the disease or health problem.

My goal for this year was to pick 3-5 diseases that I wanted to go in depth with. The diseases had to be common and something that I can acquire a lot of information about. This blog includes everything that I have learned through out my research. It is all facts. The diseases that I studied are Diabetes, Tuberculosis, Schizophrenia, and HIV/AIDs. Each site will include statistics, what it is/what it does to the patient, whether it is curable or not, what can a person do to prevent it, its' symptoms, current researches, caring tips, what that person's diet should look like, and whether it is contagious or not, etc.
